Board of Regents Approve Media Rights Agreements for Big 12, Texas Tech

In a specially-called meeting this morning (Sept. 11), members of the Board of Regents at the Texas Tech University System approved the media rights agreements with ESPN and FOX Sports Media Group for Texas Tech University as part of the newly-established deal for institutions in the Big 12 Conference. 

“Approving this expanded contract was a straightforward decision,” Jerry E. Turner, chairman of the Board of Regents, said. “This agreement will provide Texas Tech University with unprecedented visibility and further our momentum in advancing among the nation’s top institutions.”

Another lousy week; TV seasons are still coming out rapidly to promote the new fall seasons and we are still in that weird limbo where the Summer is over Oscar season hasn't started. In Hollywood these weeks are the political equivalent of filibusters.

The Australian outback is the driest place on the driest inhabited continent on the planet. It is a place you might expect to see kangaroos but certainly not waterbirds. Yet once every ten years, rains flood into dried-up river beds and head inland to create the largest lake in Australia, and 100,000 pelicans -- a third of all the pelicans in Australia -- arrive for the event.
