As a life long watcher of all things Academy Awards I expected "Lincoln" to basically make a clean sweep. It did win the Oscar it deserved which was for Daniel Day-Lewis' amazing performance as Abraham Lincoln. Ang Lee won best Director over Mr. Spielberg, a surprise. "Argo" took the top award, another surprise, and Ben Affleck gave an amazingly heartfelt speech.
Tue, 26 Feb 2013 01:45:07 +0000 Paul Hunton 19932 at http://kttz.org 24 Frames: Oscar Special 24 Frames Reviews: Top Gun IMAX 3D http://kttz.org/post/24-frames-reviews-top-gun-imax-3d

“Top Gun” is making a 5 day tour on IMAX 3D before it is released on blu ray next Tuesday. I didn’t hesitate to go, “Top Gun” has been seen by virtually everyone and 12 year old Paul was a huge fan too! I was 4 when it was released in theaters but I wore out the VHS and the Nintendo game(which was overly difficult). I don’t need to review the film for you, if you haven’t seen it you need too if only for the volleyball scene. The following are my thoughts on how the film has held up, and the goodness of seeing it in the IMAX format.
Fri, 08 Feb 2013 17:21:27 +0000 Paul Hunton 18995 at http://kttz.org 24 Frames Reviews: Top Gun IMAX 3D 24 Frames Reviews: The Last Stand http://kttz.org/post/24-frames-reviews-last-stand
"Get to the Choppa!"

"It's not a tumor."

"I'll be back."

"Hasta la vista, baby."

"I will destroy California!"

If Arnold Schwarzenegger is known for anything other than bankrupting the state of California, it's for his magnificent delivery of one-liners(that last one was made up by the way).
Sat, 19 Jan 2013 18:08:03 +0000 Paul Hunton 17864 at http://kttz.org 24 Frames Reviews: The Last Stand 24 Frames: Best Films of 2012(VIDEO) http://kttz.org/post/24-frames-best-films-2012video
http://youtu.be/kBnlK9QR8vU

The best films of 2012. Staring at the television set, tears welling in my eyes, I didn’t imagine his death would affect me the way it did. We checked out a theater renovation project in Plainview at the Granada Theatre and we sat down with Super Model and actress Chanel Ryan. These stories were a lot of fun and my favorite part of it all was sitting with the guys at the coffee shop in Plainview and talking about the history of the town. The best place to be in any town or city is in a coffee shop sitting around with older guys. Great stuff!
Thu, 10 Jan 2013 20:45:12 +0000 Paul Hunton 17370 at http://kttz.org 24 Frames: Middle/Granada/Chanel 24 Frames Reviews: Django Unchained http://kttz.org/post/24-frames-reviews-django-unchained
I could tell you that Quentin Tarantino is a provocateur, but you already know that. I could tell you that he uses the "n" word too liberally and with a little too much zest, you know that too. I could tell you his latest film "Django Unchained" is causing controversy for those reasons, once again, you probably know this. I could go through all the reasons some of the choices he makes are wrong, or morally, socially, and historically reprehensible but then I'd be telling you something you already believe, or that you don't believe at all. We also get to hear from lead man of Ivory and Ash Race Henry. Anyone who thinks local music is dead in Lubbock only has to hear this band rock it out! We also check out a short film by Kat Candler of Austin. Her short film Love Bug is just a fun little film about young love.

Mon, 26 Nov 2012 01:19:44 +0000 Paul Hunton 15038 at http://kttz.org 24 Frames: Bronze/Ivory/Ash
