Texas Tech Top Five Fashion School
Apparel Design & Manufacturing was named among the top five fashion schools in the southwest by Fashion-Schools.org. The program came in fifth on the Top Ten Fashion Schools in the Southwest list surrounded by Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Nevada.
Tech has sent interns to New York, L.A. and Italy, and has received international recognition from the Paris Fashion Institute. ADM allows students to participate in opportunities such as the techstyle fashion show, fashion industry internships and creative design competitions.
Su Shin, associate professor and director of ADM, says they department’s goal was to help the university reach Tier 1 status, and by winning this award it helps tech and open doors to their students. She says her department reviews their curriculum every year to continue to improve and accommodate student requests.
“Fashion is always changing, and it starts with the interest of an individual and the creativity of the designer,” Shin said.
ADM provides the key to entering the glamorous world of fashion, and quality education for students preparing for professions in apparel design and manufacturing. Tech students learn to create and produce their own design, research and apply the latest trends, manage product development, apparel design, or design and construct costumes for the catwalk.
