Leonardo's Kitchen at the Museum of Texas Tech University is hosting "Land Arts of the American West" as its inaugural exhibit.
The exhibition culminates the semester-long transdisciplinary field program Land Arts of the American West with the Texas Tech University College of Architecture presenting documents, objects and constructions by students Roberto Becerra, Liz Janoff, Matthew Mendez, Kaitlin Pomerantz and Claudia Vásquez. These students set out abroad to live off the land, traveling thousands of miles and creating life experiences all in the name of Land Art. Here's Prof. Chris Taylor, curator of the exhibit, with more on the purpose of Land Art.
Through their experiences on the land, these land artisans create magnificent pieces of work, like this one by Kaitlin Pomerantz.
Listen in as Chris describes the process of creating this piece.
Chris Taylor, director of Land Arts of the American West at Texas Tech, moved to Lubbock in 2008 and can be found in the College of Architecture.
