Today we mourn the loss and celebrate the life of the matriarch of the Lubbock arts community, Louise Hopkins Underwood. Louise was a champion for the work we do at Texas Tech Public Media. Our story is not unusual; she was a champion for all those in our city who wanted to make the world a more positive and creative place. She never wanted the credit, even though her legacy warrants it, and the landscape of our connected, collaborative, and supportive community is a testament to her passion for the arts.
To our fellow artists, makers, thinkers, creators, and dreamers, join us in ensuring that her spirit lives on in each of us through the work we do and the joy we share in our community, our region, our state, and our world.
With Sorrow and Love,
Texas Tech Public Media
