The National Security Agency surveillance programs have been a topic of controversy with their efforts to track terrorists through phone and Internet surveillance while abusing the civil liberties of Americans.
The annual spring Hispanic Graduation Convocation recognized Hispanic graduates from Texas Tech on May 16 at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center. The Raider Rojos National Alumni Chapter hosts the event. The chapter promotes retention and graduation attainment of Hispanic students, and hosts events to raise money for scholarships.
Faculty and staff, students, family, and special guests were welcomed in the alumni center by the Tech Mariachi band, Los Matadores. Graduates were presented with a cultural stole and a Raiders Rojos pin during the recognition.
